Privacy Policy for AirChord
Effective Date: 19 August, 2025
AirChord LLC ("we", "us", or "our") provides a live audio streaming application and web platform ("AirChord") that allows users to broadcast audio from their devices to private or public listeners. These services are collectively referred to in this policy as the "Service". We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is used.
1. Information We Collect
We collect limited information to operate and improve the Service:
- Device ID – this refers to a unique identifier specific to the installed instance of AirChord (not the physical device), and is used to associate a stream with your app session and prevent abuse. If you sign in using email in the future, your email address will replace this device ID as your primary identifier.
- IP Address – logged automatically and used for technical troubleshooting, analytics, inferring general location, and preventing abuse.
- Email Address (planned) – if you choose to create an account, we may collect an email address. If you sign in using Apple, you can choose to hide your real email. In that case, Apple will provide us with an anonymous relay email (e.g., xyz@privaterelay.appleid.com), which we use solely to identify your account.
We do not collect:
- Your name
- Contact list
- Exact GPS location
We do not use advertising identifiers or behavioral tracking.
2. Audio Input and Streaming
AirChord accesses your device’s microphone in order to:
- Stream audio locally or to public listeners (if you enable public streaming)
- Identify songs using the ShazamKit API, which performs audio fingerprinting
Shazam Integration
- Audio snippets are processed on-device by Apple’s ShazamKit API.
- We do not retain or store audio fingerprint data.
- No personal information is shared with Apple or Shazam as part of this process.
3. Public Streaming (Optional)
If you enable Public Streaming:
- Your audio stream is uploaded to our public HLS server, where it can be accessed by anyone with the stream link.
- Streams may be indexed by metadata (e.g. song title, artist) if available.
- We associate each stream with a device-specific identifier or (if signed in) an email address for the purposes of managing streams and preventing abuse. Streams may remain on our servers until explicitly deleted by the user, or at our discretion.
⚠️ You are responsible for ensuring that your broadcast content does not contain private conversations or sensitive information.
4. Data Retention
- We store device IDs and IP addresses for a limited time to support functionality and prevent abuse.
- Email addresses (if collected in the future) will be retained for account access until the user deletes their account.
- Public audio streams may remain on our servers until explicitly deleted by the user, or at our discretion.
- Metadata (e.g. stream title, start time) may be stored to support playback and listing.
5. Your Rights and Choices
If you are concerned about data associated with your device or streams and cannot delete it yourself, you may request deletion of your data by contacting:
privacy@airchord.app
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the integrity of our servers and services, but we do not guarantee the privacy of content that users choose to stream publicly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date will always be posted at the top of this page. Continued use of AirChord after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
